May 3, 2013 -- Bibliography Module Released.

The new Task Book Bibliography Module (Search Bibliography in the menu on the left hand side, or Bibliography Search) allows searching for publications, as reported by NASA SLPSRA investigators in their annual and final Task Book reports. The Bibliography Module allows searching by:

  • Author
  • Investigator (Lastname and/or Firstname)
  • Co-Investigator (Lastname and/or Firstname)
  • Title of publication
  • Forum (Meeting Name)
  • Source (name of the publication source, whether journal, book or book chapter, conference proceedings, NASA technical report, etc.)
  • Bibliography Type (for example, Abstracts for Journals and Proceedings, Articles in Peer-Reviewed Journals, Awards, Books/Book Chapters, Papers from Meeting Proceedings, Patents, among others)
  • NASA Program (Human Research, Space Biology, Physical Sciences)
  • Fiscal Year (fiscal year in which the publication was published)
  • Other search options include NASA-specific program data, including:
    • Research areas within NASA programs
    • Human Research Program Elements, Risks, Gaps
    • Solicitation (Funding Source)
    • Directed Research

Results are displayed by Investigator name and the task within which the publication results fall. Results are further distinguished by the particular task report (reporting year) in which the publication was reported. Hyperlinks to the actual Task Book reports are provided, as well as hyperlinks to publication information, as available.

NOTE that searching for publications is quite different from searching tasks. Authors may be investigators or investigators may be authors but most authors are not investigators. Some publications may not include the Investigator as an author, although the publication can be attributed to the Investigator's task. Investigators may be authors (and not investigators) before or after they are funded as investigators. Search results depend on what investigators report in their Task Book reports. There may be some duplicate citations, as some reports contain cumulative publications instead of publications for the specific reporting period, or some publications reported in one year's report as "in press" appear in subsequent reports as published. In other instances, there may be collaborative research by two or more Investigators, who all report the same publication.

These features need to be taken into account if a comprehensive analysis is sought. Interest in finding publications resulting from a particular task or investigator may best be found by searching the particular task, using the "Search Task Book" feature to search for Task Book reports and then reviewing the Cumulative Bibliography feature at the top of each Task Book report's Bibliography section.

An Export feature will be available in the near future.

August 25, 2010 -- Advanced Capabilities Division Research & Technology Task Book has been improved to enhance usability and functionality.

Revisions and improvements include the following:

  • The Fiscal Year search menu defaults to All Reports FY04-present. If a specific year is preferred, the Fiscal Year desired may be saved as default for multiple searches without resetting the FY each time.
  • Search results now provide access to all submitted and approved Task Book reports by fiscal year on a single page. Now, when a user clicks on a task title hyperlink to retrieve information on the particular task, reports for all years will be displayed by fiscal year tabs at the top of the screen.
  • Individual tasks are now listed only once for each search. This change makes it significantly easier to scan the resultant list for a particular task.
  • Search results are now sortable for PI Name, Project Title, Start Date, HRP Element and HRP Risk
  • The Key Word field has been expanded to search the following:
    • Project Title
    • Task Description
    • Task Progress
    • Grant/Contract Number
    • Research Impact
    • PI Lastname (whole word)
    • CoI Lastname (whole word)
    • Flight Mission/Program
    • Discipline/Program
    • SubDiscipline/Element
    • Human Research Program Elements
    • Human Research Program Risks
    • Human Research Program Gaps
  • The Investigator/Co-Investigator name fields have an autosuggest function to quickly locate investigators.
  • Individual task reports can now display a Cumulative Bibliography for a specific task.
  • The HRP Element, Risk, and Gap are now displayed for each HRP task, assigned based on IRP Rev A, dated January 2009.
  • Tasks may be searched via HRP Risks and Gaps.
