Other papers of interest:

  1. No author. Proceedings of the Annual Gravitational Physiology Meeting (28th ?). J Gravit Physiol 2007 Jul;14(1):P1-146. Note: This issue includes 58 short, mostly 2-page, papers. The 58 PubMed citations can be found by pasting this string of characters into the PubMed search box: j gravit physiol[Jour] 14[volume] 1[issue] Citations and tables of contents are not available at the publisher's site. COMMENT: The Journal of Gravitational Physiology was recently accepted by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to be added to PubMed by NLM staff. As background, the former SPACELINE Project earlier supplemented PubMed's regular coverage with literature of the space life sciences (SLS) not covered by PubMed, through an agreement between NASA and NLM. This included some radiation, physical science, life support journals, etc., plus journals dedicated to the space life sciences: Advances in Space Research, Acta Astronautica, Journal of Gravitational Physiology, Gravitational and Space Biology, Space Medicine and Medical Engineering, Biological Sciences in Space, Microgravity Science and Technology, Habitation, etc. This extra material has not been added to PubMed since 2004/2005 when the SPACELINE Project ceased. Thus, the inclusion of the Journal of Gravitational Physiology in PubMed fills in a small part of this gap in coverage of the SLS literature. The weekly Current Awareness lists attempt to cover all of the SLS journal literature, including the above-noted non-PubMed SLS literature. The list content is therefore slightly different from what actually appears in PubMed. For the non-PubMed literature, the web links in the lists go to the publisher's site abstract, when it is available, since these citations do not appear in PubMed. PubMed continues to be used as the primary link for all other citations because of its widespread use (there are of course other means of online literature searching besides PubMed, but it remains the preeminent biomedical database in the U.S. and abroad) and because of its capability of organizing and systematizing a huge amount of data.
